When it is a romantic rendezvous, there could be nothing better than to have an ambiance that speaks of romance. In order to provide a relaxed and romantic ambiance, sometimes extra touches are used to create that special ambiance. Somehow candles and flowers are so much a part of romance.

There is something about candlelight that is so soothing and relaxing. A way to enhance the effect of these is to use fragrant types with various colors that appeal to the senses. They are often considered magical but they are also expensive to buy on a regular basis. The ideal way to overcome this problem is by making the colorful, perfumed candles yourself.

Put old candles in a double boiler and heat is the most normal way to achieve this. The container with the wax must never be put on a direct flame. If you do not have enough old candles, buying new ones in bulk quantities will keep the total cost down and will definitely be cheaper than the exorbitant price charged in stores.

Although aluminum containers may get hot when you pour hot wax in them, they are the best choice. Use anything from paper cups to glasses to get the designs and shapes you want.

The wick can be made out of an old candle wick or out of white cotton straw. Make the cotton straw stiff by rubbing wax on it as this will make it easier to insert the wick in the wax placed in the mould. Put in the required oil color in the melted wax and add it gradually and blend it carefully to get an idea of when to stop. Pour the liquid wax in the container and add the wick slowly, ensuring that it goes right in the middle and straight down.

In the event that you want your candles to consist of different layers of colors, then you are going to need to melt the wax in some different containers and then add all of the appropriate colors to each of the lots. Make absolutely sure that the mould that you have selected to use for the multicolored candles is tall and allows all of the layers to show, the way that you pour all of the different colors is very important as well. You should pour each color of wax after the color before has cooled off. A horrible colored lump may form with all the colors mixed up if this is not taken care of.

Fragrant candles can be made by adding fragrance oils to the hot wax after the coloring process.

You can buy these oils easily at the store and you have a choice of floral ones or the more heavy or fresh citrus ones. The mold is put into a freezer once the color and fragrance have been added and wick put in place.
