Using a Colon Cleanser in 6 Steps

The colon is a long hollow tube and a part of our large intestine that removes the water from digested food. The remaining material called stool is then moved to the rectum until it can leave the body through the anus. Therefore, the colon is a very important body-cleansing organ that needs to be detoxified so that it can continue to do its job well. You will need a colon cleanser.

Use a product that is made of natural ingredients for your body.

Some producers make products that have various chemicals, additives, and compounds that may not react well with your body or your condition.

Be wary of products that contain Cascara, Psyllium, and Senna. Cascara and Senna have been cited to cause irregular heartbeat because of electrolyte imbalance and potassium loss. Psyllium obstructs the gastrointestinal tract.

Determine the type of cleanser you need-fiber-based or oxygen-based.

The colon cleansers that are fiber-based use fiber to remove toxins from the intestines and colon. These fiber-based cleansers flush out the waste from the body thoroughly. The colon cleansers that are oxygen-based use oxygen to remove the toxins from the body. They also serve to detoxify the colon.

If you are not sure which type of cleanser works best for you, you can either consult a professional or try both yourself.

Evaluate the quality and price of the product before you buy it.

Not all expensive products work best for you, and not all cheaper products are ineffective. But to be sure of your purchase, seek advice and opinion from your doctor or a medical professional, or read product reviews to evaluate the colon cleanser better.

Over-the-counter cleansers are cheap-less than 20 dollars-because they do not offer extensive cleansing regimen for the colon as their more expensive counterparts give. The costlier colon cleansers are usually 40-80 dollars, and are designed to cleanse the bowel.

Opt for a colon cleanser that gives a comprehensive cleansing regimen.

Colon cleansers are meant to clean your colon and get rid of toxins and parasites from your body. Invest on a product that works best for a price that justifies its performance. Instead of buying separate products, get one that is complete already. It may cost more, but it will save you from the hassle of working with more products.

Determine how long you should keep on taking the colon cleanser.

Colon cleansers are recommended for use in one to two months.

Oxygen-based colon cleaners are safe to take everyday because they keep the colon refreshed and clean. The fiber-based cleansers, though, should not be taken regularly because they build dependency.

Colon cleansers with other active ingredients like Senna can cause damage to the nerves in the colon after prolonged use.

Eat a balanced diet when using a colon cleanser.

You do not have to fast before you use a colon cleanser, but you do have to avoid overeating. You also have to take a lot of liquids and water to replenish all the fluid that is cleansed from your body.

Using a fiber-based or oxygen-based colon cleanser regularly will guard your body from toxins that may circulate back, and prevents constipation and loose bowel movements. But if you develop side effects, bloating, or undesirable effects from the use of colon cleansers, stop using it until you consult a doctor.
