My 5 year old goes bonkers for princesses, always wearing princess clothing, drinking from princess cups, and now playing with a folding princess castle. I guess people are right when they say that full grown women and little girls both love the idea of princesses.
Well, now Melissa and Doug have brought you the best of both worlds - your daughter or granddaughter gets to have a dollhouse made for princesses!
When I found the Melissa and Doug Folding Princess Castle in the store, I said, uh oh - if I don’t buy this, I’ll be in trouble. Not that it matters that we have several of Melissa and Doug’s toys at the house, you know, blocks, puzzles, and the like. Good thing that the quality has always been high and we haven’t had problems with these toys.
It comes as no surprise that the folding princess castle is a combo of gold and pink colors. The castle looks very real for an inexpensive toy. I think they did a solid job of making the princess castle - no complaints here. It’s a no-brainer to buy this thing if you have daughters between 5 and 12 years old. I’m pleased it’s so well-made and looks good. I think it’s about 3 feet big when unfolded, so it’s large. I managed to buy it for about eighty bucks, so it’s worth the money, believe me.
The folding princess castle looks complicated, but it’s actually very easy to set up. It’s called a folding castle for a reason - you simply take it out of the box, unfold it, place the movable towers and turrets where you want them, and you’re ready to play.
It folds easily for storage and at only 16 lbs, highly portable. There’s even a working drawbridge! Your little princess will have hours of fun dreaming up queen-sized royal adventures!
No surprises that the princess castle is pink, (most little girls’ favorite color).
The flag on the folding princess castle is held on by a magnet, which does make sense since if it had been glued on it could easily be broken off. However, the flag can be lost easily. Being able to take it off easily lets my kids act out capture the flag storyline. I just have to move heaven and earth to find it when they lose it.
The folding princess castle is not only portable, you can move around a lot of the parts, including the towers, turrets, dungeon, etc.. You’ve got balconies that can hold multiple figurines, a big courtyard, a magnetic flag, a drawbridge that raises and lowers, you got it all. I think some of the staircases move, too.
Believe me, I’m very happy that my daughter gets to act out her princess fantasies with this cool toy. I should’ve waited for Christmas this year, but I ended up buying it for her at thanksgiving. Now I have to figure out something as good for Christmas! Help!
